BSc (Hons) Health & Social Care Programme Level 6 (top up)

The BSc in Health and Social Care  top up degree programme is a Level 6 qualification that aims to provide you, the student, with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities needed to be an effective practitioner in  a variety of health and social care settings.

Successful completion of the programme will see the award of a Bachelor of Sciences degree from the Newcastle College Group

Duration: 1 year full time – 4 days a week

Award to be received: BSc Health & Social Care
Tuition Fee: £9,000 per year.

The health & social care sector covers a vast range of occupations and professions, the BSc Health & Social Care Programme is the ideal qualification to give you an awareness of the Health Care sector. A sample of opportunities could be;

You will develop transferable skills such as;

  • Analysing and selecting information
  • Communicating effectively
  • Understanding and interpreting numerical data

 Course Details 

Units are delivered using a range of assessments to develop your skills both academically and within the workplace. An example of the units you will study are

  • Research Methods
  • Leadership and Management
  • Psychology of Health and Well Being
  • Professional Collaboration
  • Policy and Practice

Within your first semester you will study 3 units and in your second semester you will study a further 2 units in addition to which you will also be required to produce a written
dissertation the details of which will be provided upon acceptance onto the programme.

You will be taught by academics that have relevant industry experience and subject specialisms that will help support your learning journey. 

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements
You must be over 18 years old and have one of the following:

BTEC National Certificate/Diploma in Health and Social Care practice at
Level 5.

Maths and English or equivalent  at Level 2.

Applications are also welcome from mature students with relevant work experience.
